    Branding is a business method which creates an image in the mind of the public about a specific product. Branding a product allows the product to be recognized as a different product from other similar products. Branding allows products to be perceived as unique in a relation to a specific attribute. In order to successfully brand a product the product must have a positive effect on our daily life style. Trying to brand a “weak” product won’t succeed on the long run and might even back fire. The process of branding a product might take months or even years, especially if the branding is targeting the international market.

    The steps for creating a brand are first performing a market research and review. This step is a critical step in the branding process, without performing the research you will be lacking the basic tools which will help with dealing with the market’s needs.  This step will contain all of the important factors that you will need to analyze such as the product itself, the product advantages, weakness and the competition. After you finish performing the market research the next step is building your branding strategy. Branding a new project requires having a work strategy which will allow you to reach your branding goals in the most effective way. A quality branding must require a building an effective work strategy based on past experience in the branding field.  The third step of building a brand is to create and design a product concept.  This process will contain the creation of a product logo, symbols and writing the marketing message of your product. The final step of product branding is assimilation of the product image in the public’s mind. This step will be usually made in the interaction points between the company and the costumer such as ads, stores or sales points.

    In the CEO game branding is a key tool in your marketing arsenal. Learning how to use branding correctly in this serious game will allow you to attain a reputation of your products that will assist you in your sales.

    IBM returns to the serious game market with their new release Innov8 2.0. Innov8 2.0 is a serious game of business process management simulator (or BPM) . The main goal of this new IBM product is to improve the business productivity of IT and business professionals by improving their understanding of the processes that are critical for the company’s success. Innov8 allow business and IT players about the importance of managing businesses processes and how they affect the entire organization. The game itself is combined with 3 mini games which each one of them tries to simulate a different aspect of business process management. The 3 games are Smarter Supply Chain, Smarter Customer Service and Smarter Traffic. The game is currently open and you play it by entering innov8 page on IBM’s website.

    A lot have been said about the game theory since the beginning of the 20th century.
    The mathematic field, which combines almost every other academic area, controls our daily thinking, or at least need to be taken into consideration without any doubts!.  The most basic business rule is that we all wish to maximize our profits. Every time we face someone, we are in some sort of a game of who will gain the most. Still the way to describe this challenge in mathematic equations is by assuming that the other (or others) acts rational like the ‘Economic person’. Each of whom you can find useful for the CEO, the entrepreneur or for the everyday Joe. CEO’s most understand that most of the decisions they make, can be analyzed and describe in mathematic tools, for achieving better prospective of the dilemma they facing. The more you try to emphasize your dilemmas in this manner the better you’ll become.  Those who master this skill will grow stronger and the stronger you get the better you’ll run your business!

    Simunomics is an online business simulation game that was developed in late 2008. The game unlike other leading business simulation games such as IndustryMasters, tries to focus more on realism by having a real time game play. In Simunomics the player has the CEO of his own company has

    to sell, manufacture or research one out of 100 built in products. The key to winning game is creating the right strategy for each market. The game is constructed in such way that allows the players to reach their market share in different ways but currently has a limited amount of tools to do it. The game itself doesn’t deal with issues related to human resources, law and regulations, stock exchange or money investments and marketing.

    As for the game play itself, from the first impression that we got it was quickly noticed that the game was not professional and probably won’t be leading the online business simulation market in the future.

    Simunomics was developed only last year, the game play and the quality of the graphics are quite poor. The game play is pretty strict in allowing players to use their creativity to further the game and since the game was developed hardly any new changes were inserted. The game also misses out many of the important aspects of managing a company such as human resources or marketing and doesn’t have any educational value.

    Everything we know tells us that leadership is a key factor in improving productivity but still it’s quite uncommon to actually try to figure out what makes leadership really work.

    Here are few behaviors that embracing them might help

    • Personal relationships. Employees that have a constructive relationship with their superiors can often achieve even more than they expected. Personal productivity and creativity can help employees in achieving higher achievements.
    • Being aware to your objectives. Updating your employees about your objectives helps them to understand what will assists in achieving those objectives and what simply won’t. Leadership that is managed wisely can help employees in being aware to tasks that are important and avoiding those who aren’t.
    • Finding the hidden talent. In every one of us lays a hidden talent and no matter what the job is a good leader must know how to reach those golden eggs. Getting a better performance doesn’t have to indicate that your employees should work harder only smarter.
    • Avoiding self doubt. Most people are affected in some way by self doubts. Self doubts can only harm your performance. A good leader should always know how to help his employees overcome their self doubts.
    • Making a group effort. A leader can take a group of people and merge them into a team. You can easily see it on sports teams as well workplaces that have influencing managers.

    People are supposed to reject changes, and most of the time that’s exactly what they do. Although the statement that “People don’t like changes” is too general. Since moving up and improving is constantly based on making changes you wouldn’t want the fear from the future to weaken the group’s initiative and the group’s unity.

    VP of human resources in one of the US top production companies once said: “I show people that the change is part of acceptable norm in our daily life. Most of the time people want, love and need changes. Those who oppose changes are usually those who lack self confident. They want to stay in the same place while the rest of the world is moving forward.”

    People don’t like surprises. Only few among us are liked to get caught when we are not ready. The sudden deceleration of change or a new development can catch them in surprise and often cause them to oppose it. In the other hand knowing before a change can give people time to embrace it.

    People also don’t like that changes that are made to their authority. This fact is true even in situations that are seemed fairly simple.

    Team spirit is not something that exists for its own sake. Although it has its own value, its importance comes from the things it produces: better productivity and more satisfaction among team members. You can argue if two minds are better than one although a group of people almost always function better than a single person.

    Improving your team spirit and loyalty can be done through the following steps:

    • Highlighting the contribution of your team members for causes related to the group.
    • Developing awareness among the employees for the reliance on the group. You can see this method commonly used at sport teams.
    • Give compliments to your team. If you give a compliment to group efforts you remind your team members that they are a part of a team.

    By following these steps you provide the infrastructure required for growing a team spirit. Using team spirit is an effective way to achieve much with a low investment.
